Buy tickets for Theater Arts’ ‘A New Brain’, February 18-27 | University time

The Department of Theater Arts will present the musical “A New Brain” from February 18-27 at the Charity Randall Theater at the Stephen Foster Memorial.

Written by William Finn and James Lapine, the Tony Award-winning authors of “Falsettos,” “A New Brain” centers on a composer during a medical emergency.

Gordon collapses in his lunch and wakes up in the hospital, surrounded by his sea-loving lover, his mother, a colleague, the doctor and the nurses. Reluctantly, he had composed a song for a children’s TV show that features a frog – Mr. Bungee – and the specter of that big green character and unfinished business haunts him throughout his medical ordeal.

What was thought to be a tumor turns out to be something more operable, and Gordon recovers, grateful for the chance to compose the songs he aspires to produce.

All people attending the show must be fully vaccinated and wear masks. Pitt campuses are closed to the general public, but open to University members and registered guests. University members can register a guest online. Registered guests will receive a confirmation email that they must present, along with photo identification, upon arrival on campus.

Tickets are $15 in advance and $20 at the door and can be purchased online here.
