The University of Colorado Mesa Department of Theater Arts is in rehearsal for the spring production, “The SpongeBob Musical,” under the direction of Department Head Mo LaMée.
Although the musical is based on the beloved animated series, the musical is definitely not just for kids. With fun musical numbers and dancing, plus a message that will resonate with all ages and an appearance by musical director and audience favorite Jeremy Franklin, “The SpongeBob Musical” is recommended for families and seasoned theatergoers alike. .
As SpongeBob and all of Bikini Bottom face the total annihilation of their underwater world, chaos erupts and the power of optimism struggles to prevail. The show features original songs by Yolanda Adams, Steven Tyler & Joe Perry of Aerosmith, Sara Bareilles, Jonathan Coulton, Alexander Ebert of Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros, The Flaming Lips, Lady Antebellum, Cyndi Lauper, John Legend, Panic ! At the Disco, Plain White T’s, They Might Be Giants and TI, and songs by David Bowie, Tom Kenny and Andy Paley.
