Hartwick College Department of Theater Arts Presents “Hair”

Hartwick College’s Department of Theater Arts is pleased to announce its spring musical production of “Hair”, with lyrics by Gerome Ragni and James Rado, and music by Galt MacDermot. The production will run February 9-11 at 8 p.m. each evening and February 12 at 2 p.m. at the Slade Theatre, Yager Hall, on the College campus. Admission is $5 for the Hartwick community and all students with ID, and $10 for the general public.

Summarized by the Tams-Witmark Music Library Inc. website, “‘Hair’ celebrates the ’60s counterculture in all its barefoot, long-haired, bell-bottomed, beaded and fringed glory…Exploring the ideas of identity, community, global responsibility and peace, ‘Hair’ remains more relevant than ever as it examines what it means to be a young person in a changing world.

“Hair” is directed by Hartwick, Associate Professor of Theater Arts Malissa Kano-White with musical co-direction by Assistant Professor of Music Dr. Andrew Pease and vocal coach/co-musical director of theater arts Dr. Jeremy Kellet. The show is also choreographed by Lecturer in Theater Arts Catherine Smith with scenic and lighting design by the Lecturer in Theater Arts Gary Burley.

The cast includes Emily Barnes ’20, Erin Corah ’18, Karina Costanzo ’20, Tony Cross ’17, Jessica Fehribach ’19, Chelsea Jones ’18, Saphira Koerner ’20, Elle MacPherson ’20, Taylor Morin ’17, Madison Christmas ’19, Dillon Orlando ’20, Riley Philips ’17, Daniel Randolph ’20, Carlos Silva ’18, Gavin Smith ’19, Steven Smith ’19, Bryandt Stevens ’20, Allison Taft ’20, Reme Terrelonge ’18, Grace Ann Toledo ’19, Brianna Tracy ’20, Vermeal Abbey ’18, Zachary Whitenack ’17and Nick Woolson ’20.

The production is directed by the production assistant/university intern Alyssa Fox ’16with the help of Chelsea Jones ’18 and Grace Ann Toledo ’19.

The College’s production “Hair” was also submitted as a participating entry to the Kennedy Center American College Theater Festival (KCACTF).
