1954 Rodgers and Hammerstein Carousel is relaunched for a 10-week run at the New York City Center. In the cast, Barbara Cook and Jo Sullivan.

1955 Michael Redgrave directs the cast of Tiger at the gates. Christopher Fryadaptation of Jean Giraudouxit’s The Trojan War will not take place describes the Trojan hero Hector and his determination to avoid war with Greece. The play runs for 13 weeks at the Apollo Theater in London.

1982 Designer-director Sheldon Epps adds a touch of blue to the Great White Way as its blues in the night opens on Broadway. The cast of the Rialto Theater presents Leslie Uggams, Debbie Shapiro, John Du Shonand Charles H. Coleman. The musical centers around the three woes of women, featuring 24 songs from various blues artists.

1999 Actor, composer, playwright and concert performer Hershey Felder opens George Gershwin alone. His solo show (with music) premiered at the Tiffany Theater in West Hollywood. Production on George Gershwin opened on Broadway two years later, on April 30, 2001, under the direction of Joel Zwick.

2008 Revenge of a Blonde enters the world of reality casting when MTV debuts Legally Blonde the Musical: The Search for Elle Woods. The series follows ten contestants, selected in a nationwide casting call, as they audition to star in the Broadway musical.

2013 Shadows get closer to a Connecticut family at the world premiere of far from paradisefeaturing Kelli O’Hara, Steven Pasqualeand Isaiah Johnsonopens Off-Broadway at Playwrights’ horizons. Based on the 2002 Todd Haynes film, the musical has a book of Richard Greenbergmusic by Scott Frankeland words of Michel Korie.
