In 1947, Brigadoon premieres on Broadway.

1928 William Anthony McGuire directs his version of The three Musketeers. PG Wodehouse and Clifford Gray write the lyrics for Rudolf Friml’s score. Dennis King, Vivienne Segal and John Clarke star in the production at the Lyric Theater in New York.

[1945[1945 This crazy idea lingers for 13 weeks at the Martin Beck Theatre. Philippe Barrycomedy stars Tallulah Bankhead and is led by John C. Wilson.

1947 Brigadoon emerges from the mist at the Ziegfeld Theater. Alan Jay Lerner and Frederic Loewethe musical has a choreography of Agnes de Mille and a cast that includes David Brooks, George Keane, and Pamela Britton. It has 581 performances.

1963 And the director says Walk in laughing. Joseph Stein adapts Carl Reiner’s novel into a play starring Alan Arkin as a delivery boy who has a chance to make it in the theater. The production played 419 performances at Henry Miller’s Theater in New York City and was later made into a film and a musical So long, 174th street.

1973 A revival of Irene featuring Debbie Reynolds inaugurates the new Minskoff Theatre. The musical, with music by Harry Tierneywords of Joseph McCarthyand book before Hugh Wheeler and Joseph Stein, collects Reynolds and his teammate Patsy Kelly Tony nominations, but only George S. Irving goes home a winner for his performance.

1986 Playwright and director Emily Mann debuted on Broadway both with execution of justice. The play, featuring John Spencer, Mary McDonnell, Stanley Tucciand Wesley Snipesopens at the Virginia Theater and runs 12 performances.

2002 The beauty and the Beast playing its 3,225th performance, surpassing Howard Lindsay and Russell Crouseit’s life with father and become the 10th longest-running show in Broadway history.

2013 carole kane and Mickey Sumner in the world premiere of Craig LucasThe Lesson of Lyingto Atlantic Theater Companyof the Linda Gross Theater. Pam MacKinnon directs the play on a fictional encounter between a movie star at the end of his career Bette Davis and a stranger.

2014 Rockya musical based on the 1976 Oscar Sylvester Stallone film about an underdog fighter who rises to greatness, opens on Broadway. Andy Karl stars as boxer Rocky Balboa opposite Margo Seibert like Adrian. Directed by Alex Woodthe musical features a score by Lynn Ahrens and Stephane Flaherty and a book of Thomas Meehan and Sylvester Stallone. It organizes 180 performances at the Winter Garden Theatre.

2016 Revival by The Roundabout Theater Company of the musical by Alfred Uhry and Robert Waldman The thief husband opens Off-Broadway at the Laura Pels Theater. Steven Pasquale stars as Jamie Lockhart.
